Coming across this invitation for a photography exhibition at the Rat's Cave, I was pleasantly surprised to see young emerging local photographers present their work at the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre. As opposed to the glamorous portrayal of metropolitan life, these photographers capture the destructive nature of time and a paradise that once was but has now been left to decay. It's an interesting dichotomy that is constantly being explored and openly criticises the Utopian idealism that is associated with Modernism.

Photographer Phoebe Yeung centers on the relationship between humans and the buildings that we occupy in her stunning black and white series. Her unconventional "portraits" remind me of the work by one my favourite photographers Chen Jiagang that I saw 2 years ago at the Contemporary by Angela Li.
Other photographers in the exhibition include BLO, CM Lam, Egg Cheung, 冬妮 and another photographer that I can't type here since I have no idea how to input Chinese characters (how embarrassing...)
Catch the exhibition at the L1 Gallery of the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre before Friday 3 August!
a nice exhibition!

Super cool! I love photography exhibitions but there are really few in Vancouver, I usually check them out when I'm down in the USA though. I'll be sure to explore some when I'm in HK!
