Alexander McQueen presents an exclusive collaboration with renowned conceptual artist Damien Hirst to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its iconic scull scarves. In a 30-piece collection, Hirst combines his dark vision that revolves around his entomology series with McQueen's gothic aesthetic.
It hasn't been the first time butterflies have appeared at the British fashion marque. In another famous collaboration with British milliner Phillip Treacy, Alexander McQueen presented a hat covered in butterflies for his Fall 2013 collection. At the helm of Sarah Burton, the house of McQueen looked back at their archives and appropriated the butterfly motif onto their dresses for Spring 2011.

Fast forward to 15 November 2013, Hirst deems this long awaited collaboration "something we should have done years ago. I love McQueen and think this collaboration is a marriage made in heaven." Not unlike his intricate paintings of insects in kaleidoscopic arrangements, Hirst appropriates his butterflies onto McQueen's signature skulls to capture a more romantic side of the macabre.
This beauty is further celebrated by a one minute fashion film by photographer Sølve Sundsbø, which you can see below. Grab yours exclusively at Alexander McQueen boutiques or online at alexandermcqueen.com!
