A couple of days ago, I came across this amazing bracelet while browsing through the Colette online store. Created by Adrien Messié and Erwann Le Louër, their minimal aesthetic is a breath of fresh of air that merges both form and function in jewellery design.
Chief designer Messié uses the word "monoproduct" to describe their collection of bracelets. With a utilitarian design that is both easy-to-wear and hard to resist, Le Gramme easily captures the essence of a modern wardrobe staple.
Each ribbon of 9-2-5 recycled sterling silver is named after its gram weight (taking inspiration from the international scientific unit) with its name clearly inscribed on the side so customers know exactly what they're getting. "I made prototypes with a jeweler in Paris. When it came time to pay, he asked me to not only pay for the labor but also for the weight of the bracelets. So I thought I would name each bracelet by its density," Adrien explains. Made in France, each bracelet is also handmade using recycled metal, paving way for the future in eco fashion.
For many, this unique unisex jewellery line is the ultimate in material and design.
Available online at Colette.
